RIM along with Nokia and Motorola have proposed a new design European Telecommunications Standards Institute [ETSI], and now ETSI is looking into both the options. Both the parties are very optimistic about their SIM design structure and Apple has gone a step ahead and announced that their new design would be license free and anyone who want to go with their design they can approach the company directly. The new decision from ETSI as annoyed other mobile manufacturing giants such as Nokia, RIM and Motorola. Now these trios have made a new proposal to European Telecommunications Standards Institute [ETSI], which is very much similar to Apple Nano SIM design.

Nokia and Motorola said to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute [ETSI] jury that their new SIM design was superior to Apple Inc, and the Nano SIM design from Apple is not appropriate design and there are chances that the SIM getting stuck in the SIM slot, and would create chaos among the consumers. ETIS has got a tricky situation ahead as both these SIM design makers are confident about their designs. Now its upto European Telecommunications Standards Institute [ETSI], to decide and support any one SIM design, mean while ETSI made it clear that the new compact SIM design will be available with a dimension of 12.3 by 8.8 mm and the thickness of the new Nano SIM is not be altered.
